The Horticultural Society of South Jersey engages in a number of community service projects. Currently or recently, these include, among others:
- maintaining the plantings around the Carman Tilelli Community Center at the Cherry Hill Municipal Complex, where HSSJ's meetings are held;
- maintaining the plantings around the Arts Performance Center at Croft Farm;
- assisting the Friends of the Cherry hill Library in planting the plot around the flag pole;
- tree planting around the Cherry Hill Township athletic field.
In memory of the late Dr. Albert Sedar, Professor of Anatomy at Jefferson Medical School and an avid gardener, HSSJ awards an annual scholarship of $500 to a Camden County high school senior who plans to major in horticulture, landscape architecture, or enviornmental science in college.
